Bloglily: Pearl River in New York City also sells the colorful melamine tiffins, in square and round varieties. (Along with the more prosaic -- but still functional -- stainless-steel versions.) Here's a link.

Kate -- That's fabulous. Thank you! And welcome. (Sorry about the long day at the law office, but at least you get to bring a styling lunchbox every day.)
Best, Lily

You may enjoy the referenced melamine Tiffin Set as well -- in pastel colors. I find it very useful for breakfast and lunch for my long day at a law office. -- Kate in Sacramento

Hi Lindsey -- Welcome. I think the tin is made by Vivo. Give the Market some time. They're in San Francisco, and it's still pretty early in the day here. Best, Lily

I've just posted something today, as a matter of fact. What interests me the most is seeing how this all plays out in the real world of my son's cafeteria. Best, Lily

I'm interested in reading your thoughts about the changes in the Berkeley school lunches. Did you read the article in this week's New Yorker about Chef Ann Cooper?

[...] Now here’s one that’s giving me trouble. Long before I learned they’d featured these colorful melamine tiffin tins on Real Simple, I’d spotted them at a great store in the Ferry Building in San Francisco. A week later, they were out, probably because of Real Simple. The guy at the store told me they would be ordering more. They’re made by a mysterious entity called Tivo. I’ll track them down over the next few days and let you know where you can order these. Give me until the beginning of next week. (The link Real Simple provides goes to a company called Ellis that’s clearly been so overwhelmed with requests that they’ve simply stopped answering their phones.) (9/3/06– Ah — I’ve found it. Look here.) And the tiffin above? It’s for sale on ebay. The seller’s in England. The auction ends September 6, 2006, after which time the link will die. [...]
